Justin Ochs Wins 2010 TAA Bid Calling Championship
Nashville, TN
Every year some of the very best auctioneers from across the state come to the TAA Winter Convention with the aspirations of becoming the Tennessee Bid Calling Champion. Every year the competition is intense.
This year was no different and after the dust settled in a very spirited competition, Justin Ochs of Gallatin Tn. was pronounced the 2010, Tennessee Auctioneers Association Bid Calling Champion.
Justin, who apprenticed under TAA Hall of Famer Jack Holbrook, edged out a very talented field of contestants. With the win, Ochs also gets the opportunity to represent the Tennessee Auctioneers Association at the 2010 National Auctioneers Association, International Auctioneers Championship to be held in Greensboro, North Carolina in July of this year. There, Ochs will compete with champion auctioneers from around the United States and some from other countries.
Performing on the International stage, in front of your peers is enough to make most of us a little weak in the knees but Ochs is already accustomed to the national stage.
If you are a fan of Barrett Jackson and “The World’s Greatest Collector Car Event” in Scottsdale, Arizona then you may have heard Justin's voice during one of the broadcasts shown on cable TV. He also has worked the All american Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, OH, the AQHA World Championships in Oklahoma City, OK and the St.Joseph Benefit Auction in Newton, NJ.
Ochs currently resides in Gallatin, TN with his wife, Kelly and is an Auctioneer and the Marketing Director for StanRich Auctions.

Jay Cash is TAA 2010 Bid Assistant Champion
Nashville, TN
When you hear the term “Ringman”, does it conjure up thoughts of a person, ringside at a boxing event. Maybe someone who manages the water bucket, ringside medical supplies or the guy who rings the bell signaling the start and end of each round.
If you are not that familiar with auctions then you may be one with this picture in mind.
The job of a Ringman at an auction is one of great importance. Not only to the auctioneer but also to the persons interested in making a purchase at the auction. This was recognized by the National Auctioneer Association and in turn by the state auctioneer’s associations making way for Ringmen across the nation to compete and display their considerable skills at a higher level.
The first ever Ringman or Bid Assistant competition was held in Nashville at the TAA Winter Meetings this past December and the winner was Jay Cash.
Jay, who is an auctioneer with Bob Parks in Murfreesboro, comes from an auction family. His dad James is a well know auctioneer in Kentucky.
A bid assistant is an essential member of the auction team. The bid assistant interacts directly with prospective buyers, answers questions concerning items for bid and auction terms, encourages bidding and informs the auctioneer of bids. Contestants were judged on their interaction with the audience and their ability to communicate bids to the auctioneer.
